  5. Hi, I love DSLibris its great, especially

holding the ds vertically. Its awesome, I

just have one suggestion, since people have

to convert there books into xhtml, why not

share them? For example DSOrganize has a

online homebrew database built in, where

you can download hombrew apps or games like

DSlibris and NDSMail straight to your DS

using DSOrganize. Well what if DSLibris had

a book database where people could upload

xhtml or xht books and download the xhtml

or xht books staight to their DS and then

read then read them in DSLibris. I have

some books such as To Kill a Mockingbird,

The DaVinci Code, The Art of War, The

Poetics, A Discourse on Methods and a lot

of other books that I would be glad to

share as well as some books in spanish.

Please contact me and tell me what you

think. Thanks a lot and keep it up.

  6. Oh sorry I doubled space. My browser

    automatically does it.

  7. Oh and I have heard that some people would

like an mp3 feature added, so that they can

listen to their music while reading. I

don’t really care, but I think that the

online DSLibris book database would be

cool, I think it could be accesed by the L

or R button, you can alreaddy flip through

pages using A and B or the D-pad. Please

    contact me.

  8. One more suggestion, if you could put

the dslibris.nds in a folder instead of the

root of your card and if there were someway

rename the “books” folder to “Books”, with

    a uppercase B. Thanks a lot.

  12. hi Geez, the latest releases of dslibris are at SourceForge, you should try the latest one from there. You are doing things right. Be sure to put all of the files at the root or your media.

  13. Hey!, I am trying to build a book

    database for books compatible with

DSLibris. The database is accessed through

DSOrganize. Please tell me what you think!

Comment by Danny Chicago & New York City Kid — April 14, 2008 @ 1:53 am

  14. Can you provide a pointer to some doc on how DSOrganize stores this database? Did the developer provide any tools to access the data?

    Comment by Ray Haleblian — April 14, 2008 @ 3:24 am

  15. YES! he did, its not from the developer, but he posted it on his wiki so people can learn how to build it.

    From his website:

You will need a web server with PHP 4+ and MySQL 4+ and use this PHP Script by GeekShadow and Scrawl. To connect, you must have a “.hbdb file” with the link of your server inside. Simply launch this file in the browser to activate your custom database.

  17. On version 1.0.1 I was able to put the dslibris .nds file anywhere I wanted, but the Books and dslibris folder on the root of the card. Is there anyway to do this on the latest release?

Comment by Danny Chicago & New York City Kid — May 5, 2008 @ 5:47 am

  18. I think I’m going to stick with 1.0.1 for now, its my favorite version and I also like the menu more, the old font, the “dslibris” folder and “books” folder, but if you let me make that page dedicated to dslibris on my website I’ll post all of the versions, if its ok with you.

Comment by Danny Chicago & New York City Kid — May 5, 2008 @ 5:54 am

  19. The link I gave you is how to access a database through DSOrganize, but the source code for DSOrganize is out on his site.

  23. Hi, I really need some help :)
I’m new on using the homebrew things. I have an old nds from my sister, still using super card on it. I downloaded dslibril from SourceForge, patch the dslibris.nds to dslibris.dsq.nds using supercard patcher. I can see the files in the root directory when i turn the nds, but when i launch the dslibris.dsq.nds, it keep download the file and never open it.
Please help me on this. thanks.

    • @cilla: hi, did you get a file called dslibris.log on your card? If you did, please email it to me at ray at haleblian dot com. What version does the initial screen show?

      Comment by Ray Haleblian — December 12, 2008 @ 6:58 am

  24. Hey ray, I really like the new releae, the beta, but I am having a problem with my books. Some of the eBooks I had used in previous version of dslibris are now unreadable, they will not load. For the eBooks that do work, I have to keep pressing any of the DS’ buttons in order for it to continue to load.

A question I have, can we still add our own TrueType fonts like before?

Oh, and just an opinion, the old black and white dslibris interface from like version 1 looks a lot more sophisticated than the clip art of the books stacked up, just my opinion.

Comment by Danny Csbero-Matos: The Chicago & New York City Kid — December 21, 2008 @ 11:37 pm

    • @danny: Pls send me a book that won’t work anymore. Start a thread in the Help section on Sourceforge to follow this up.

Haven’t seen the buttons problem before, let’s see what the next release does. Adding fonts should still work.
The test graphic on the current beta is going away in the next release.

      Comment by Ray Haleblian — December 23, 2008 @ 2:31 am

  25. Hi Ray,
I sent the log by email. Plese help me to check it.
    Thank you :)

    Comment by cilla — December 26, 2008 @ 6:18 am

  26. Hey Ray,

Sorry, my bad, there wasn’t a problem with the buttons. Since it’s the holidays, I’ve been able to have more time to look at the program. I’ve noticed that the loading times are longer and to a point I thought dslibris had frozen. Because I thought it had frozen I’d press a button and then it would load, but it was just a coincidence. I just have to wait more.

The book on the other hand still does not work, so I’ll send it to you.

Oh and I know I said I didn’t really like the test graphic, and that your getting rid of it, which is good.

  27. Many thanks for Beta 234! :)

    Comment by Pulstar — January 26, 2009 @ 9:12 pm

  28. Kudos for an excellent application! Now, I’m finding better uses for my DSL which has been stuck in the drawer for some months now.

    Here’s a couple of suggestions:
    * How about adding a clock on the front page, or whatever you call it? Sometimes, when I’m too engrossed reading, I forget what time it is. :D

    * can’t we run dslibris in a sub-folder of root? I tried changing the configuration settings but it won’t. I hate cluttering my root directory.

I’m running v1.3 (beta 234) and pressing the X button doesn’t do anything, though I read from here that it should invert colors? So I changed the configuration for this manually.

Sometimes, the last book won’t reload. I have to open a different book first then reload the book in question again. It’s not consistent, so I couldn’t replicate the propblem.

    Thanks for the excellent work!

  29. Is there a page limit? I’m reading a book and is stuck on page 2049. :?

    Comment by Coco Palm Sugar — February 3, 2009 @ 3:43 am

  30. 2048 kbytes = 2 megs of memory.. Assuming DSLibris loads XTHML documents up to 2 megs you have to divide longer books into <2MB parts (or even smaller since I don’t know if 1 page in DSLibris equals a kilobyte). Not a hard feat using WYSIWYG editors that support XHTML.

  31. Hi! Thanks for this programm it was one big reason why I bought my DS.
